i watched a youtube video recently about stories about artificial characters who are in some way powered by or affected deeply by memory and grief. i really liked it; it's one of my favorite things to see in stories, so i am going to try harder to incorporate those kinds of themes into one of my stories (somnus).

i was a bit disappointed, though, because the video had a few segments about FFIX... and kuja was never discussed! i concede he's not a hall-of-famer final fantasy villain, but i think the narrative parallels between him, vivi, and zidane (and, to a lesser extent, dagger/garnet) are really neat, yet, unfortunately, they are seldom touched upon by fans. i'm probably just bummed because i like his character a lot (to the point he inspired a beloved character of my own!), which i don't think is a very popular opinion.

i've seen people poke fun at the fact that, in english, autumn is also called "fall" because that's when the leaves from trees fall. i'm all for taking the piss out of english, sure, but do people not think other languages are similarly literal? a lot of slavic languages have a month of the year named something that literally translates to "leaf-fall" (listopad).

the only downside i can think of to liking multiple different "aesthetics" is that they can be a nightmare to balance. sure, it's perfectly cool and healthy to like glossy web design, lolita/ouji, alternative fashion and art more broadly, and delicate, natural things in green, but how the hell can i possibly fuse any of these looks, let alone ALL of them, in an attempt to accurately represent the things i am drawn to? why am i torturing myself (hyperbole) trying to do so???

today, i made another smoothie bowl. it's a berry-banana mix with a little vanilla and chocolate. i normally like savory breakfasts more, but the novelty of "ice cream for breakfast" hasn't worn off yet.

even though i'm excited to go back to school, i will miss preparing tasty food.

a few months ago, i drew a website layout that i had seen in my dream. now that i am (unwisely) deciding to redo the layout of my homepage, i'm wondering if i should recreate it to the best of my ability.
